Job summary

bolttech is hiring a senior security architecture leader in Europe to define and evolve a defence-in-depth security framework across cloud, data, identity and infrastructure. The role focuses on design decisions, threat modelling and secure-by-design patterns rather than routine compliance checks.

You will mentor engineers, partner with AI security and GRC teams, and stay ahead of AI-era security risks while aligning architecture with industry standards.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in information security, with a deep focus on security architecture and secure-by-design.
• Strong experience defining reference architectures and security design standards at enterprise scale, and leading architecture reviews and threat modelling.
• Demonstrated expertise across IT fundamentals (systems and networks) and modern concepts - cloud, DevSecOps, containerisation, APIs, AI/ML, and secure-by-design.
• Excellent understanding of security technologies, including cloud-native tooling, firewalls, IPS, EDR, CNAPP/CSPM, SIEM and IAM.
• Strong AI fluency - ability to use AI-powered tools and automation to accelerate security design, threat modelling, control review and evidence generation, with judgment to validate AI output.
• Working understanding of securing AI and agentic systems and AI-era architecture risk - identities, prompt injection, governance frameworks like NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001 and EU AI Act.
• Excellent knowledge of industry standards and frameworks, such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST and PCI DSS.

Responsibilities

• Define, evolve and own bolttech’s target-state security architecture with reference architectures and secure-by-design patterns adopted by engineering teams.
• Act as senior design authority for security architecture decisions on high-risk changes and major releases, using design judgement and compensating controls.
• Lead threat modelling of systems, platforms and data flows, ensuring mitigations are practical and tracked to closure.
• Design a defence-in-depth architecture securing AI integration across infrastructure, tooling and products, aligned to AI-security guardrails.
• Champion AI-assisted automation of routine control and compliance reviews and adopt policy-as-code across platforms and CI/CD.
• Define and maintain security architecture principles and an exception record with trade-offs and owners.
• Translate incidents into systemic architectural improvements and harden platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, in partnership with GRC and AI Security teams.
• Stay current on AI threats and security developments to feed into bolttech’s architecture roadmap.
