Job summary

Merck Group is seeking a Senior Accounting Business Partner to lead legal-entity financial reporting under IFRS and local GAAP for multiple entities. You will be the primary accounting contact for CFOs, ensuring audit-ready, compliant reporting and alignment with group guidelines.

You will collaborate with centralized accounting teams, tax, treasury, and other group functions while supporting standardized global processes and local requirements, driving continuous improvement and strong controls.

• Proven track record as Chief Accountant or Deputy Chief Accountant.
• Expertise in financial reporting under IFRS and local GAAP.

The Role

As a Senior Accounting Business Partner, you will be responsible for legal-entity financial reporting across a portfolio of assigned entities, covering both IFRS and local GAAP. You will help ensure that reporting is high-quality, compliant, audit-ready and aligned with local legislation and Group guidelines. As the key accounting and reporting contact for the CFOs of your assigned entities, you will provide transparency on financial reporting status, identify and assess risks, and challenge and elevate issues when necessary to support timely resolution. You will work closely with centralized accounting teams and relevant Group Functions, including Tax, Treasury and Group Accounting, while supporting standardized global processes and ensuring the right local fit.

What You Will Do

• Take ownership of legal-entity financial reporting for several assigned entities under IFRS and applicable local GAAP.
• Act as the main accounting and reporting contact for the CFOs of the respective legal entities.
• Provide clear visibility of accounting and reporting status, risks, open items and required actions.
• Perform risk- and materiality-based reviews of financial information and reporting processes.
• Challenge accounting matters constructively and elevate issues where required.
• Coordinate external financial audits and support tax and internal audits from an accounting and reporting perspective.
• Drive issue resolution in collaboration with centralized accounting teams and Group Functions.
• Support the implementation of standardized global processes while ensuring appropriate local requirements are addressed.
• Lead or contribute to projects that improve ABP and country processes, increase efficiency and enhance the quality of reported financials.
• Promote continuous improvement, strong controls and consistent application of accounting and reporting principles.

Who You Are

• You have at least 5 years of professional accounting, finance, or audit experience,
• Proven track record working as a Chief Accountant or Deputy Chief Accountant.
• A financial reporting expert with hands-on experience preparing and finalizing full financial statements
• Credentialed (or actively working toward) professional qualifications like CPA or ACCA
• Knowledge of local accounting laws, tax regulations, and international standards like IFRS or GAAP inside out.
• You review financial information with confidence, spot risks quickly, and communicate accounting matters clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• You're self-driven, take ownership of your work, and deliver accurate, timely, and compliant results without being asked twice.
• You work well across functions, facilitate problem-solving, and build trust with multiple stakeholders.
• You exercise sound judgment, challenge constructively when needed, and stay committed to continuous improvement and strong controls.
