Job description

Thalamus is the market leader in graduate medical education recruitment technology, empowering over 8,000 residency and fellowship programs at 800+ health systems and all new physicians throughout the US annually. As we expand beyond GME into broader physician recruitment, our unique dataset—spanning the full profiles of residency/fellowship applicants and programs—positions us to revolutionize hiring in healthcare through AI/ML and data-driven insights. This furthers our mission to ensure the right doctor ends up at the right hospital to treat the right patients.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team and help us advance along our Finance Maturity Roadmap. This role is mission-critical: ensuring timely, accurate GAAP-compliant closes, preparing for audits, supporting ERP integration, and partnering with the Controller to establish and maintain strong internal controls and compliance. You’ll be both a builder (standing up scalable processes) and an operator (executing closes, reconciliations, AR/AP, and controls).

What You Will Achieve

Month-End Close

Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.

Ensure closings are timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant.

Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable

Manage AR processes, including invoicing, collections, and revenue application.

Oversee AP processes, including vendor management, expense reports, and payment runs.

Perform account reconciliations for AR, AP, and related balance sheet accounts.

Compliance & Audit Readiness

Maintain GAAP accounting policies and ensure ASC 606 compliance for revenue recognition.

Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and internal control evidence.

Operations & Partnership

Partner with the Controller on higher-level tasks and provide coverage as needed.

Support cash flow management, reconciliations, and expense reporting.

Automation & ERP Implementation

Contribute to ERP rollout (Campfire w/ HubSpot integration) and help automate manual workflows.

Develop scalable processes and finance scorecards that support business growth.

You should have…

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.

At least 2–3 years of experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm and 2–3 years in a startup or high-growth environment (recent experience preferred).

Prior experience preparing for financial audits in a SaaS or high-growth setting.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 with practical application experience.

Hands-on ERP/accounting system experience with QuickBooks, Campfire/HubSpot, and Ramp.

Proficient in Excel for reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.

Comfortable in a scaling environment: capable of both executing tactical tasks and building long-term processes.

Bonus

  • CPA or CPA track
