Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an experienced SDET specializing in JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright to join our engineering team in Poland. You will design, implement and maintain automated test solutions spanning functional, API, and performance testing, with strong CI/CD integration and traceability.

You will collaborate with test managers, product owners and developers to ensure high-quality releases and robust test coverage across modules and services.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in JavaScript/TypeScript test automation.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright.
  • Experience with API testing, mocking, and contract validation.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintaining traceability in test management tools.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and cross-team communication.
  • Designing and automating API tests traced to Swagger endpoints with mocks/stubs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with test managers and product owners to understand test plans for new and existing features.
  • Analyze requirements and acceptance criteria to create clear test scenarios and scripts.
  • Design, develop, and execute automated tests for functional and non-functional aspects.
  • Implement API testing strategies to validate endpoints for correctness, security, reliability, and performance.
  • Maintain component-level test suites with mocks and contracts for isolation and system integration.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze performance and load tests for scalability and stability.
  • Identify, document, and report defects with reproduction steps and logs.
  • Coordinate with developers and DevOps to test upcoming changes.
  • Build and maintain automated test scripts and CI/CD integration with quality gates.
  • Maintain test artifacts in Jira/Confluence/Git linked to requirements.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies for high-quality releases.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups and sprint planning.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced SDET specializing in JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright to join our engineering team and ensure the quality and reliability of our software products. In this role, you will collaborate closely with test managers, product owners, developers, and other engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain robust automated test solutions. Your work will span functional, non-functional, API, component, and performance testing, with a strong emphasis on automation, CI/CD integration, and traceability.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with test managers and product owners to understand test plans and approaches for new and existing software features
  • Analyze requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation to create clear and comprehensive test scenarios and scripts
  • Design, develop, and execute automated tests covering functional and non-functional aspects of the software
  • Implement API testing strategies to validate endpoints for correctness, security, reliability, and performance
  • Maintain component-level test suites with appropriate mocks and contracts to ensure modules function correctly in isolation and as part of the system
  • Plan, execute, and analyze performance and load tests to assess system scalability, responsiveness, and stability
  • Identify, document, and report defects with detailed reproduction steps, logs, and supporting evidence
  • Coordinate with developers, DevOps, and other engineering teams to anticipate and test upcoming changes
  • Build and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks with a focus on efficiency, coverage, and repeatability, and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates
  • Maintain organized and traceable test artifacts in tools such as Xray, Jira, Confluence, and Git, ensuring all tests are linked to requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Identify risks, elevate critical issues, and propose mitigation strategies to support high-quality, timely software releases
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in JavaScript/TypeScript test automation
  • 3+ years of hands‑on expertise with Playwright
  • Understanding of API testing, mocking, and contract validation using modern tools
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintaining traceability in test management tools
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and effective cross‑team communication
  • Skills in designing and automating API tests traced to Swagger endpoints, with experience maintaining mocks/stubs using tools such as Playwright, Supertest, Wiremock, Bruno, and Pact
  • Familiarity with WireMock, Docker Compose/TestContainers (with Postgres and Kafka), and LocalStack for building isolated component test suites
  • Experience developing reusable test frameworks, libraries, and utilities to support scalable automation

  • Experience with AI‑assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot within VS Code, to accelerate test case and script creation
