Job summary

SOFTSWISS is seeking a Senior Ruby Developer in Warsaw to design and build scalable Ruby services for data-intensive, high-load systems. You will own end-to-end delivery from implementation to production, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize both application and database performance in a fast-paced, agile environment.

You will collaborate with product, infrastructure and business teams and explore new technologies to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Ruby Developer to join a highly experienced engineering team working on complex, data-intensive systems. You will help design and build reliable, fault-tolerant solutions, take ownership of their performance in production, and solve challenging data and scalability problems.

Purpose of the role:

Design and improve scalable Ruby services for high-load, data-intensive systems. You will own solutions from implementation to production, troubleshoot complex issues, optimize application and database performance, and contribute to technical decisions and engineering practices.

Key responsibilities:

• Work in a fully agile environment with senior engineers and product managers
• Participate in designing fault-tolerant, highly available and optimized solutions
• Monitor and optimize your services in production for excellence
• Research and develop new technologies and tools
• Collaborate with other teams - product, infrastructure and business

Required Experience:

• Minimum 5-year experience in software development
• Solid Ruby programming skills
• Hands-on experience with data-intensive applications development & performance tuning
• Experience in developing complex solutions from scratch
• Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of relational databases, with the ability and curiosity to investigate complex data issues, analyze large datasets, and perform root-cause analysis
• Deep data structures, OOP, and algorithms knowledge
• Good communication skills

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with ClickHouse
• Familiarity with AI-powered developer tools and practical experience integrating them into daily development workflows
• Experience with Kafka
• Ability to implement space and time-efficient algorithms and understand which one is preferable and when
• Readiness to learn other programming languages (e.g. Golang, Scala)
• Familiarity with SRE practices
• Familiarity with cloud native technologies (e.g. k8s, Helm, Prometheus)
