Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology poszukuje Research Specialist (Implementation of PhD) w dziale materiałów zaawansowanych. Współpraca z AGH w Krakowie, projekt obejmuje rozwój modeli AI do symulacji dyfuzji i oksydacji przy wysokich temperaturach.

Stanowisko na 48 miesięcy, pełny etat, 36 dni urlopu, atrakcyjny pakiet świadczeń i możliwość rozwoju zawodowego. Mile widziane magisterium oraz doświadczenie w SEM/TEM, XRD, ML.

Qualifications

• Magister inżynierii, materiałoznawstwo lub pokrewne.
• Znajomość procesów dyfuzji i oksydacji materiałów.
• Znajomość metod analitycznych SEM/TEM/EDS/XRD.
• Doświadczenie w ML lub modelowaniu komputerowym mile widziane.
• Umiejętność prowadzenia badań samodzielnie i w zespole.
• Język angielski na poziomie umożliwiającym czytanie literatury naukowej (min. B1).

Responsibilities

• Poszerzanie wiedzy z zakresu materiałoznawstwa i wysokotemperaturowych badań degradacji.
• Prowadzenie badań eksperymentalnych nad kinetyką oksydacji wysokotemperaturowych stopów metalicznych.
• Analiza mechanizmów tworzenia skali tlenkowej i strefy wewnętrznej oksydacji.
• Tworzenie przewidywalnych modeli AI dotyczących procesów dyfuzji w wysokich temperaturach.
• Sporządzanie dokumentacji naukowej, raportów i publikacji w czasopismach międzynarodowych.
• Tworzenie projektów naukowych i ubieganie się o zewnętrzne finansowanie.

Position Title: Research Specialist (Implementation of PhD)

Currently, as part of the research and scientific activities of the Center for Advanced Materials, the Institute is looking for a candidate to carry out an implementation doctorate in cooperation with the AGH University of Science and Technology entitled " Models development using artificial intelligence algorithms for mass gain/scale thickening, internal oxidation prediction based on high temperature exposure in oxidizing atmospheres ".

Main Duties:

• Deepening knowledge related to materials engineering, especially in the area of high-temperature research, degradation of materials in oxidizing environments working at high temperatures for power and aerospace
• Conducting experimental research related to the development of oxidation kinetics of high-temperature metallic alloys and their characteristics in terms of oxidation mechanism
• Analysis of the mechanisms of oxide scale build-up, as well as the analysis of the mechanisms of the formation of the internal oxidation zone in annealed materials at high temperatures
• Creating predictive models using advanced artificial intelligence models (cellular automata, machine learning) of diffusion processes at high temperatures
• Performing in-depth microscopic and phase analyses of the oxides formation in oxidizing atmospheres
• Preparation of research documentation, reports and scientific publications in internationally recognized journals
• Creating scientific projects based on the acquired knowledge and applying for external funds, taking into account the formal criteria of a given call

The ideal candidate for the Research Specialist (Implementation PhD) position in the field of Corrosion Research in Centre of Advanced Materials in Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology should presents:

• Completed Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related fields,
• Knowledge in the field of materials engineering, physics,
• Knowledge of the basics of diffusion, oxidation processes of materials, including knowledge of mechanisms related to oxide build-up,
• Knowledge and understanding of the use of analytical methods, such as, SEM/TEM, EDS, XRD,
• Experience working with machine learning or related computer models is welcome,
• Ability to conduct research both independently and in a team,
• Ability to think analytically and solve scientific and technical problems,
• Good organization of work and punctuality in the implementation of entrusted tasks.
• Knowledge of English enabling the use of scientific literature and the preparation of publications and their publication,(min. B1)

• Active participation in at least one scientific or industry conference with a national scope (e.g., poster, presentation, discussion panel),
• Participation in at least two specialized training courses,
• Experience in implementing research and development projects (including projects financed by subsidies, grants, and commissioned tasks), e.g., participation in an R&D project as a team member,
• Active participation in projects related to the implementation of research results or collaboration with the economic sector,
• Authorship or co-authorship of at least one scientific publication, industry report, or analysis relevant to the Institute’s research directions.
