Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (Łukasiewicz-IMiF)conducts the research and development in the field of advanced microelectronic and photonic technologies. It has unique technological laboratories and intellectual capital that enable it to undertake the scientific work and run the projects aimed at increasing the innovation of Polish enterprises, simultaneously creating a high-tech knowledge environment in the field of innovative materials’ production along with the technology and design of microelectronics and photonic devices, gallium nitride technology, LTCC technology, printed electronics and medical and environmental sensors. Łukasiewicz–IMiF runs numerous projects financed from domestic and foreign funds annually, the goals of which are to increase the innovation of the Polish economy.

Main responsibilities:

• Securing external funding for research in materials engineering, renewable energy sources, hydrogen technologies and hydrogen fuel cells, including consultations with prospective business partners and the preparation of grant applications.
• Managing research and development projects in the fields of materials engineering, LTCC-based hydrogen fuel-cell technologies, renewable energy sources and related areas.
• Supervising the hydrogen fuel-cell testing laboratory.
• Contributing to the development of the Research Group’s strategic direction in the area of hydrogen technologies.
• Planning research activities and preparing scientific publications in the above-mentioned fields in order to enhance the visibility and recognition of the Research Group.
• Providing mentoring oversight to research personnel and supporting the development of their competencies.
• A doctoral degree and at least 2 years of experience in the research and development sector, or a Master’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in the research and development sector, including participation in the delivery of research projects. The degree must be in a science or engineering discipline, including energy engineering, electrical engineering/electronics, chemistry, materials engineering, physics or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in hydrogen fuel-cell technologies.
• Expert knowledge of renewable energy sources, hydrogen fuel cells, solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technologies and ceramics, supported by scientific publications and participation in and/or management of national and/or international projects in the above-mentioned fields.
• Knowledge of the Polish and international markets for materials used in energy applications, renewable energy sources and hydrogen fuel cells.
• Authorship or co-authorship of at least three publications published in scientific journals included in the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education list, including at least one publication in a journal awarded 140 or 200 points or ranked among the top 10% of journals in Scopus.
• Authorship or co-authorship of at least three presentations delivered at international scientific or industry conferences, including a conference paper, lecture, invited lecture or participation as a speaker in a panel discussion.
• Participation in the delivery of at least two research and development projects funded through institutional subsidy, grants, commissioned research or external sources, whether domestic or international, including at least one project related to the implementation of research results or aimed at commercialization; management of at least one of these projects.
• Successful acquisition of domestic or international funding for at least one scientific research project, for example from the National Science Centre (NCN), the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), the Medical Research Agency (ABM), the European Space Agency (ESA) or the European Commission.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, develop employees’ competencies and demonstrate commitment to technology development.

Specific Requirements

Additional Qualifications - Łukasiewicz-IMiF will additionally consider the following qualifications:

• Authorship or co-authorship of at least one patent application.
• Documented success in obtaining funding through an international scientific fellowship, for example the Fulbright Program.
• Documented participation in organizing a scientific or industry conference.
• Awards or distinctions for scientific and research work, including institutional awards, industry awards, fellowships for early-career researchers or distinctions in scientific competitions.
• Membership of the governing body of a national or international scientific organization, committee or expert panel.
• Authorship or co-authorship of industry reports or analyses relevant to the Institute’s research priorities.
