Job summary

Hey Alfie is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to own backend features, build scalable REST APIs with Python and FastAPI, and shape cloud infrastructure on AWS. You will partner with the CTO and product manager to translate ideas into production, while mentoring junior developers and ensuring high-quality delivery.

The role is fully remote, offering autonomy to influence product direction and oversee projects from inception through launch.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of backend development experience.
Expertise in REST API development using Python.
Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
Proficient in Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Excellent problem-solving and ownership.
Fluent English (B2+).

Responsibilities

Lead the development of the REST API using Python on FastAPI framework, ensuring robust, scalable solutions.
Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS.
Collaborate with the CTO and product manager to define technical requirements.
Drive architecture for scalable, highly available features with business tradeoffs.
Maintain high code quality with reviews and best practices.
Write unit, feature and end-to-end tests.
Develop CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality delivery.
Document technical decisions and API design.
Mentor junior developers and promote learning within the team.
