Job summary

Optimum is seeking a Jr. Software Engineer to turn product ideas into working prototypes. You will work closely with our CTO and CPO to build, test, and benchmark our solutions against the competition.

This role is focused on product discovery through code: build it, measure it, learn from it, and help us find a good fit for our users. You'll ship prototypes, present findings, and iterate with feedback to move on.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering with a track record of shipping.
• Experience in full-stack development across backend and frontend.
• Prototype-focused approach to answer questions quickly.
• Curiosity about performance and benchmarking against alternatives.
• Strong written communication and distributed team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build working prototypes of new ideas with engineering and product teams.
• Design and run benchmarks comparing prototypes to competing solutions.
• Understand user workflows and what they would value in a product.
• Iterate quickly: ship, present findings, collect feedback, and refine.
• Leverage AI coding tools to prototype faster and reduce boilerplate.
• Contribute data and demos to help shape the roadmap.
