Job summary

Pearson is seeking an AI Scientist (Advanced Specialist) to deliver production‑quality ML solutions that improve educational products. You will partner with product teams to frame AI problems, propose practical approaches, and drive adoption of existing AI components to avoid rebuilds.

Responsibilities include mentoring peers, reviewing outputs for production readiness, documenting solutions, and guiding project direction with autonomy across multiple teams in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Strong applied experience in machine learning and deep learning with production impact.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, scikit-learn).
• Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to frame requirements.
• Ability to assess capabilities and justify reuse in new contexts.
• Autonomous decision-making and direction setting for projects.
• Experience providing rigorous feedback and mentoring teammates.

Responsibilities

• Deliver robust, scalable ML solutions and make independent implementation decisions.
• Collaborate with Business Unit partners to frame AI problems and craft fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Identify reuse opportunities across teams and advocate component-based approaches.
• Review outputs of junior scientists and provide expert feedback before production.
• Shape project direction, tooling choices, and scope with experience and judgment.
• Propose new techniques and evaluate them in real-world contexts.
• Mentor peers through code reviews, pairing, and direct feedback.
• Maintain thorough documentation and long-term health of deliverables.
