Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer - AI Data to join a distributed AI team and build data pipelines that power model training and next-generation AI products.

We work with petabyte-scale datasets, focusing on data quality, throughput, and cost, in collaboration with AI scientists to enable scalable AI development. Remote, with impact across Speechify’s products that help readers with learning differences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend development.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

• Discover new data sources and build pipelines to ingest them into training datasets.
• Build and optimize large-scale data-processing systems for quality, throughput and cost.
• Collaborate with AI Scientists to improve training datasets and models.
• Take ownership of engineering projects from discovery to delivery and iterating improvements.
