Job summary

The City of Amarillo is seeking an individual to operate the firing range at Amarillo Shooting Complex. Under supervision, you will set up and direct public shooting, read and enforce all rules, collect fees, and perform tasks to ensure smooth operation.

Responsibilities include cash handling, record-keeping, safety testing, and assisting with maintenance. Weekend work is required, benefits are not provided, and a Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 12 hours of college coursework.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Excellent reputation and background checks required; must not have disqualifying felonies or certain violations.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and reconcile cash at end of shift.
• Track and record range activities using computer systems.
• Administer safety tests and issue safety cards.
• Assign shooting positions and enforce safety rules.
• Maintain range equipment and perform basic repairs as needed.
• Support building and grounds maintenance as required.
