Hitachi ABB Power Grids is seeking a senior Mechanical/Thermal engineer in Kraków to model and design thermal components for power electronic converters and systems. You will push thermal performance and cooling solutions in a cross-functional team.
The role requires a Master’s or PhD in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, CAD and CFD tooling expertise (Ansys IcePak), and strong communication in English. International collaboration and safety focus are key.
You will be working in a small, cross-functional team of highly skilled engineers consisting of Power Electronics, Control Engineers, HW Electronics plus Thermal and Mechanical Engineers.
We develop a new breakthrough modular converter platforms based on wide bandgap semiconductors (e.g. SiC) for a range of grid and DC applications. The thermal analysis and newest cooling solutions are vital element of new platform and technology development. You are expected to push the technology boundaries in terms of efficiency, size and operational performance. In the future the solutions we are developing will be used for: integrating renewables, providing energy storage, improving power quality, and enabling green transportation plus e-Mobility.
