3Shape in Szczecin is seeking an R&D Group Manager & SolidWorks Application Owner to lead our local mechanical engineering team and act as global business owner for SolidWorks CAD environment. You will drive design excellence, templates, standards, and UAT across CAD/PLM with IT and PLM partners.

You will manage Poland/Ukraine engineers, collaborate with Copenhagen and other sites, and shape our CAD methodology while aligning with production to deliver next-generation dental scanners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• Strong mechanical product development background
• Advanced SolidWorks experience (modelling, assemblies, drawings)
• Experience with CAD data management and PLM processes
• Proven leadership experience managing engineers and cross-functional teams
• Strong communication skills and business English proficiency

Responsibilities

R&D Group Manager & SolidWorks Application Owner, R&D Poland

Help us build the next generation of dental scanners

At 3Shape, we develop advanced dental scanners that combine precision mechanics, electronics, optics, and software into medical devices used worldwide. We're looking for a R&D Group Manager based in Poland to lead our local mechanical engineering team and serve as global business owner of our SolidWorks CAD environment.

Your role

This dual role combines people leadership with CAD ownership:

• Lead the team – Manage and develop our Poland- and Ukraine-based mechanical engineers, integrate them into global R&D projects, and drive strong collaboration between R&D and production.
• Own SolidWorks/CAD – Act as global business owner for SolidWorks, our integration software to PLM (XPLM), and our CAD methodology. Own templates, standards, training, superuser network, User Acceptance Test (UAT), and change governance across the CAD/PLM environment (working alongside ARAS Innovator PLM).

Key responsibilities includes:

• Lead and develop a high-performing mechanical engineering team, currently focused on 3D CAD design, documentation, and SolidWorks infrastructure.
• Act as a solid people manager—ensuring team engagement, skill development, and technical delivery.
• Actively drive cross-site collaboration with engineering teams in Copenhagen and other global locations.
• Maintaining the CAD Methodology Playbook, driving onboarding and training, and partnering closely with IT and PLM stakeholders on system stability and improvements.

Your profile

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• Strong mechanical product development background — ideally precision products, electromechanical systems, or medical devices
• Advanced SolidWorks experience (modelling, assemblies, drawings, configurations, design intent)
• Experience with CAD data management, PLM, or engineering change processes
• Leadership experience — as a people manager, technical/CAD lead, or senior engineer with team responsibility
• Strong cross-functional communication skills; business-level English

Nice to have:

XPLM/ARAS PLM experience, regulated/medical device development, UAT and change management, or experience building engineering knowledge bases and standards.
