Job summary

SIX is seeking a Python Software Engineer to design data-driven, cloud-based applications for financial information. You’ll join an international team and help shape new applications, optimize data flows, and deliver customer-focused solutions using cloud and container technologies in a flexible hybrid environment.

This fixed-term role runs until mid-2028. You’ll build features, implement tests, contribute to architecture, ensure scalability, and collaborate across teams while taking ownership

Qualifications

• Strong Python expertise developing backend systems.
• Cloud-native engineering with Azure, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Docker/Podman.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and Apache Kafka is a plus.
• Designing and building microservice-based applications.
• Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and design documentation.
• Experience with GitLab and modern delivery pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build new functionality using Python and cloud-native tech.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests to ensure quality.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and design of systems.

• Build New Functionality: Design and implement features that meet stakeholder needs, using modern Python and cloud-native technologies.
• Ensure Quality Through Testing: Develop automated unit and integration tests to safeguard and continuously improve code quality.
• Shape Design & Architecture: Contribute your expertise to architectural decisions and help create scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Optimize and Standardize: Drive improvements in system scalability, data processing, standardization, and data visualization.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with business partners, product managers, architects, and fellow developers to deliver successful outcomes.
• Own What You Build: As part of a small DevOps team, take shared responsibility for operating, supporting, and improving our applications in production.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong Python Expertise: Proven experience developing large-scale backend systems in Python.
• Cloud-Native Engineering: Hands-on experience with Azure and Kubernetes/OpenShift, as well as container technologies such as Docker/Podman.
• APIs & Event-Driven Systems: Solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and Apache Kafka.
• Microservices Architecture: Practical experience designing and building microservice-based applications.
• Engineering Best Practices: Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and design documentation.
• Version Control & Tooling: Experience working with GitLab and modern delivery pipelines.
• Excellent Communication: A strong team player with professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
