Job summary

UL Solutions seeks a Project Manager for Onshore Wind Technical Due Diligence to lead independent engineering and technical advisory services that support financing, sales, or acquisitions of wind projects across multiple countries. You will manage IE/TA projects, coordinate internal teams, and deliver clear findings to clients.

The role requires a background in engineering and at least 4 years in renewable energy or technical due diligence, with fluent English and a strong client-facing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, combined with at least 4 years of experience in renewable energy, technical due diligence, or project engineering.
  • Fluent English is required. Proficiency in German, Italian, or Polish would be considered a strong asset, given the markets supported by this role.

Job Description

As a member of the Wind Due Diligence team, the Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing independent engineering and technical advisory services to support the financing, sale, or acquisition of wind onshore projects and portfolios across different countries.

Responsibilities
  • Manage high-profile Independent Engineering (IE) and Technical Advisory (TA) projects supporting project financing, acquisitions, and divestments of wind projects and portfolios, including technology assessments, civil and electrical design reviews, CAPEX/OPEX evaluations, environmental and permitting reviews, schedule assessments, and technical due diligence.
  • Compile and deliver IE and TA reports, summarizing key findings, risks, and recommendations. Coordinate input from UL Solutions' multidisciplinary teams and ensure consistency and quality across all technical and commercial analyses.
  • Prepare proposals outlining scope of work, project approach, team structure, budget, and schedule.
  • Lead project execution by coordinating internal resources and project teams to ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary client interface for lenders, developers, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong client relationships, facilitate meetings, and develop solutions that address client objectives.
  • Develop communication plans, prepare project status reports, and lead regular meetings with project teams, sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks, barriers, and issues, and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and recommendations.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, supporting technical growth, knowledge sharing, and team capability development.
  • Promote the application of best practices and lessons learned across projects to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality.
  • Conduct site visits during construction and operation phases, including construction monitoring activities. Review project progress against technical specifications, budgets, and schedules, and prepare related monitoring and site visit reports.
  • Represent UL Solutions at industry conferences, client meetings, and business development activities.
  • Support the business strategy and growth objectives of the due diligence team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, combined with at least 4 years of experience in renewable energy, technical due diligence, or project engineering.
  • Solid understanding of wind turbine technology and experience conducting turbine technology assessments.
  • Understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) for onshore wind projects and familiarity with energy yield modelling methodologies.
  • Experience supporting utility-scale wind projects, including project design reviews and the assessment of key project agreements such as TSA, BOP, O&M, PPA, asset management, and financing contracts.
  • Demonstrated project management and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects successfully.
  • Knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar PV technologies would be an advantage.
  • Fluent English is required. Proficiency in German, Italian, or Polish would be considered a strong asset, given the markets supported by this role.
What we offer
  • Salary range varies by location and local market conditions and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and other factors.
  • For Poland only: the annual salary range for this position starts from 132,000 PLN gross.
  • For Italy Only: the annual salary range for this position starts from €42,000 gross (CBA level 2-1).
  • This position is eligible for additional incentive with a target payout of 10% of base salary.
