Job description
Your role

Are you financially literate, data-savvy, and eager to grow in a high-impact lending environment? We’re looking for a Product Specialist to join our Hedge Fund & Private Equity Lending team.

  • analyse hedge fund and private equity portfolios of UBS clients seeking structured loans,
  • calculate lending values using internal tools and methodologies, ensuring accuracy and consistency,
  • support ad-hoc analyses and tasks related to the lending business, including requests from senior management,
  • collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Credit Risk, Investment Bank, Structuring, Origination, and Client Advisors,
  • handle data-heavy tasks with precision, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and maintain high standards of operational risk control,
  • communicate confidently across teams and occasionally with external counterparties on reputation-sensitive matters,
  • participate in long-term development initiatives across the bank, where you’ll be directly engaged as a subject matter expert (SME).

You’ll have the opportunity to shape internal process design and influence how strategic solutions are built — anything you propose can be implemented with the right effort and ownership. Initially, you’ll be expected to take ownership of foundational tasks quickly and independently, with guidance and review from senior team members. Your ability to learn fast, work autonomously, and understand the business context will be key to your success.

Your team

You’ll be part of the Lifecycle Management team within the Global Lending Unit (GLU), focused on Hedge Fund & Private Equity Structured Lending. Our team operates across locations and supports the Origination and Structuring functions by:

  • Delivering reliable data and portfolio insights.
  • Managing relationships with Credit Risk and other internal stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular monitoring and deep-dives into structured lending products.
  • Providing fast, high-quality analysis in complex or urgent scenarios.

What makes this team unique? You’ll be in a middle-office role with direct exposure to front-office dynamics, gaining a rare perspective on structured lending without the pressure of client relationship management. You’ll be trusted to contribute meaningfully from day one, and your work will directly influence lending decisions for sophisticated clients.

Your expertise
  • a higher education degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field,
  • strong financial literacy and numerical thinking,
  • at least 1 year of experience in banking or financial services,
  • advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets,
  • proactive mindset and strong organisational skills,
  • confidence in communicating across teams and with external stakeholders,
  • a willingness to learn, take initiative, and work independently,
  • a resilient and conscientious approach to problem-solving and process improvement,
  • fluent English skills, both written and spoken.

Bonus skills:

  • familiarity with Python (used in internal automation scripts),
  • interest in alternative investments and structured lending,
  • planned/in progress/completed CFA(R) Program (or similar),
  • consistently demonstrating integrity, active collaboration and constructive challenge.
