Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a product manager who thinks about business problems first and uses AI, data, cloud, and prototyping to demonstrate viable solutions.

The role blends business acumen, product thinking, and technical curiosity with a bias for action, collaborating with global teams in Europe and the U.S.

You'll lead discovery, define requirements, prototype quickly, and work with AI/ML, data platforms, and cloud tech to drive pilots and scale solutions.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, product strategy, or a similar product-adjacent role.
• Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience working directly with business stakeholders or customers.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous or complex business problems into a technology-enabled solution.
• Strong product thinking with experience defining requirements, prioritizing needs, and moving ideas from concept through prototype or delivery.
• Hands-on experience rapidly prototyping solutions, proofs-of-concept, or early product experiences.
• Strong data literacy, including hands-on SQL experience and the ability to independently explore data.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, modern data platforms, databases, and data engineering concepts.
• Understanding of AI/ML and Generative AI technologies and how they can be incorporated into enterprise products and workflows.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with autonomy and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with business stakeholders and customers to understand challenges, workflows, pain points, requirements, and opportunities.
• Lead discovery around new use cases and help define the business problem, outcomes, success metrics, and solution requirements.
• Rapidly prototype new concepts and use cases using modern AI-assisted development, low-code/no-code, and prototyping tools.
• Develop wireframes, proofs-of-concepts, and early product experiences to validate ideas before broader engineering work.
• Independently explore and analyze data to validate hypotheses, identify opportunities, and inform product decisions.
• Collaborate with data and engineering teams on data requirements, architecture considerations, integrations, and feasibility.
• Support AI and data-driven use cases across Smart Factory, digital manufacturing, and broader environments.
• Define and track success metrics and KPIs for pilots, prototypes, and capabilities.
• Support evaluation and monitoring of AI and LLM-based capabilities to understand performance and UX.
• Collaborate with global teams across the U.S. and Europe to develop, pilot, and scale solutions.

Summary

The ideal candidate does not need to be a traditional software engineer. We are looking for someone who thinks about the business problem first and can then use modern AI, data, cloud, and prototyping technologies to determine what is possible and quickly demonstrate what a solution could look like.

This role requires a combination of business acumen, product thinking, technical curiosity, and a strong bias for action.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner directly with business stakeholders and customers to understand business challenges, workflows, pain points, requirements, and opportunities.
• Lead discovery around new use cases and help define the business problem, desired outcomes, success metrics, and solution requirements.
• Rapidly prototype new concepts and use cases using modern AI-assisted development, low-code/no-code, and prototyping tools.
• Develop wireframes, proof-of-concepts, and early product experiences to validate ideas before moving solutions into broader engineering and delivery.
• Independently explore and analyze data to validate hypotheses, identify opportunities, and inform product decisions.
• Collaborate with data and engineering teams on data requirements, architecture considerations, integrations, and technical feasibility.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–7+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Product Strategy, Solutions, Business Technology, Consulting, or a similar product-adjacent role.
• Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience working directly with business stakeholders or customers.
• Proven ability to take an ambiguous or complex business problem and translate it into a clear technology-enabled solution.
• Strong product thinking with experience defining requirements, prioritizing needs, and moving ideas from concept through prototype or delivery.
• Technical fluency and the ability to work effectively with software engineering, data engineering, and AI/ML teams without needing to be a full-time software engineer.
• Hands-on experience rapidly prototyping solutions, proof-of-concepts, or early product experiences.
• Strong data literacy, including hands-on SQL experience and the ability to independently explore and analyze data.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, modern data platforms, databases, and data engineering concepts.
• Understanding of AI/ML and Generative AI technologies and how they can be incorporated into enterprise products and workflows.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.
• Comfortable working across global teams and maintaining sufficient overlap with both European and U.S. working hours.

Preferred Technical Experience

Experience with the following:

• Cloud & AI: AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, or similar cloud AI platforms
• Data Platforms: Snowflake, data lakes, and modern enterprise data architectures
• Data & Analytics: SQL, Python, data analysis, and data engineering concepts
• Generative AI: LLMs, AI agents, copilots, RAG, and other AI-enabled product experiences
• AI Evaluation & Observability: Langfuse or similar LLM evaluation and monitoring platforms
• Product Design: Figma or similar wireframing and product design tools
• Rapid Prototyping: Cursor, Lovable, Replit, Retool, Vercel/Next.js, or similar AI-assisted development and prototyping tools
• Experience rapidly developing and validating proof-of-concepts before transitioning solutions to engineering teams
