This role combines strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, with a primary focus on Category Management Excellence, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Segmentation, and Supplier Innovation. You will partner with Global Category Leaders and procurement teams across regions and functions to strengthen procurement capabilities, drive process excellence, and support Takeda’s long‑term business objectives. As the owner of assigned procurement excellence frameworks and operating models, you will help ensure consistency, governance, and adoption across strategic programs while enabling procurement teams to deliver sustainable value, manage risk, and strengthen supplier partnerships.

How You Will Contribute
  • Develop and continuously improve procurement capabilities, methodologies, tools, templates, and ways of working that support category management and supplier relationship management excellence.
  • Own and maintain assigned Category Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Segmentation, and Preferred Supplier operating models and delivery frameworks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for selected global procurement process areas and drive end‑to‑end procurement process excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to Global Category Leaders in the development and execution of category strategies.
  • Drive adoption of procurement excellence frameworks across strategic programs by measuring effectiveness, identifying capability gaps, and leading improvement actions.
  • Maintain and further enhance standard methodologies for category management, supplier segmentation, supplier performance management, and supplier innovation.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure supplier risk management and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations are incorporated into procurement frameworks and delivery models.
  • Coach category teams, value delivery teams, and enterprise supplier partnership teams on the effective application of procurement frameworks and standards.
  • Develop and maintain procurement content, templates, guidance materials, and capability‑building resources in collaboration with the Procurement Strategy and Performance team.

  • Identify and evaluate technologies and tools that support KPI management, process monitoring, performance reporting, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure procurement excellence processes, systems, and governance structures remain effective, scalable, compliant, and aligned with evolving business requirements.
  • Build and sustain governance routines that support effective decision making, stakeholder alignment, and executive sponsorship.
  • Collaborate with procurement and business stakeholders across regions and functions to enable consistent process execution and effective information flow.
  • Support enterprise programs related to supplier risk management, sustainability, and responsible sourcing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Procurement Excellence framework and broader Center of Excellence priorities.
  • Coach, mentor, and support colleagues within the Center of Excellence to strengthen organizational capability and procurement maturity.
Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of overall business experience, preferably within large, global organizations.
  • Pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated industry experience preferred.
  • 8+ years of procurement, purchasing, and strategic sourcing experience, including supplier management, contract negotiations, and category management.
  • Demonstrated success delivering cost reduction, value creation, and procurement transformation initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in category management, supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, supplier performance management, and procurement governance.
  • Experience building or deploying procurement operating models, frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of supplier segmentation, supplier innovation, and supplier performance management disciplines.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across complex global matrix organizations without direct authority.
  • Experience driving adoption of new processes, tools, and operating models through effective change management practices.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills with a focus on business outcomes and continuous improvement.
