InPost Group, a leading European out-of-home deliveries company, seeks a Principal Engineer for the Consumer & Merchant Experience area. You will define long-term technology direction and standards, solving complex cross-team challenges while ensuring product delivery and quality across markets.

You will collaborate with senior leaders, CTO, and product teams to shape the platform, influence engineering practices, and mentor future technical leaders in a large, diverse enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years of cross-team technical impact in a senior role (Staff/Principal/Architect).
• Experience making architectural decisions with long-term impact across multiple teams.
• Strong engineering background; hands-on coding not primary.
• Experience building customer-facing products and guiding direction.
• Experience establishing engineering standards and mentoring senior engineers.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity.
• Experience with public cloud and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong communication with engineering teams and C-level stakeholders.
• English proficiency at C1 level.

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Consumer & Merchant Experience area at InPost Technology.

This is a senior Individual Contributor role with an international scope and organization-wide impact. You will help define the long-term technology direction, shape architectural standards and solve complex technical problems spanning multiple teams and domains.

You will work closely with Senior Engineering Directors, Engineering Managers, Staff and Principal Engineers, product teams and our CTO. This is not a people management position. Your impact will come from technical leadership, strategic thinking and the ability to influence decisions without formal authority.

You will operate in a large and complex technology environment, supporting customer-facing products across multiple markets. The role combines defining target architecture with the practical challenge of moving away from legacy solutions while maintaining product delivery and software quality.

You will:

• define architectural standards across the technology organization;
• identify and address systemic technical challenges spanning multiple domains;
• shape engineering principles, practices and technology standards;
• contribute to the organization’s technology strategy for AI;
• lead cross-team and cross-domain technical initiatives;
• mentor Staff Engineers and help develop the next generation of technical leaders;
• support technical due diligence related to strategic partnerships and M&A;
• represent InPost in the engineering community through conferences, publications and industry initiatives;
• work with technical and business stakeholders to connect architectural direction with product needs.

We are looking for someone who has:

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems;
• 3+ years of technical impact beyond a single team, in a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect or equivalent role;
• experience making architectural decisions with long-term impact across multiple teams;
• a strong engineering background and the ability to engage in detailed technical discussions, even though regular hands-on coding will not be the primary focus of the role;
• experience building customer-facing products and influencing their technical and product direction;
• experience establishing engineering standards and mentoring senior engineers;
• proficiency in leveraging AI tools and large language models (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to enhance productivity, accelerate development, and solve complex problems.
• ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and apply them responsibly within professional workflows.
• experience working with public cloud and cloud-native architectures;
• strong knowledge of scalability, reliability, observability, APIs and system integration;
• the ability to communicate effectively with both engineering teams and C-level stakeholders;
• professional proficiency in English at C1 level.

Nice to have

• Experience in logistics, e-commerce or marketplace environments.
• Experience with on-premises to cloud migrations;
• Knowledge of security and data protection;
• Experience with payment, notification or tracking systems, including event-driven and real-time architectures.
• Experience working in an international environment;
• Previous experience in a managerial role;
• Cloud certifications, such as GCP Professional Cloud Architect.

Java is our preferred backend technology, but we are open to candidates from other backend ecosystems. What matters most is your depth of engineering experience, architectural judgment and track record of working with complex systems at scale.

Experience with mobile and web applications will be valuable, as the role is strongly connected to customer-facing products
