Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc in Kraków is seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with leadership across the engineering community. You will design and deliver production-grade solutions while supporting CIB Technology priorities including AI, data and responsible engineering at scale.

You will provide senior technical leadership, define practical AI-enabled engineering patterns, build reusable components, and drive AI-driven automation across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Ten years or more of IT experience with hands-on Python or Java and cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes.
• Senior technical leader or individual contributor experience influencing outcomes across multiple teams.
• Deep experience in software design, microservices, API architecture and security patterns.
• Experience with data-intensive technologies such as Spark, data lakes, streaming or event-driven architecture.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production-grade solutions with hands-on delivery and engineering thought leadership.
• Define AI-enabled engineering patterns and reusable components to improve adoption across teams.
• Lead AI and automation use cases from experimentation to production deployment with measurable outcomes.
• Embed AI capabilities with security, privacy, explainability, monitoring and lifecycle governance.
• Drive observability, reliability, and DevOps practices to improve delivery speed and quality.
