Hitachi Energy in Kraków seeks a Principal Embedded C/C++ Engineer to design, develop, and optimize software for embedded systems with constrained resources. You’ll work closely with hardware teams, implement firmware for microcontrollers and RTOS platforms, and ensure robust, high‑quality code.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Strong C/C++ proficiency for embedded systems.
• Experience with OpenWRT.
• Knowledge of build systems and toolchains.
• Scripting in Python and Bash.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded software using modern C/C++.
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers, embedded Linux systems, or RTOS platforms.
• Debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD tools, and software debuggers.
• Write robust, maintainable, and testable code following best practices and standards.
• Integrate with RTOS or bare-metal environments.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand schematics and interfaces.

The Opportunity

Principal Embedded C/C++ Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing software that runs on embedded systems with constrained resources such as microcontrollers, real‑time processors, and custom hardware platforms. The role combines strong C/C++ expertise with deep understanding of hardware, real‑time constraints, low‑level debugging, and system integration.

How you’ll make impact

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded software using modern C/C++
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers, embedded Linux systems, or RTOS‑based platforms.
• Perform debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD tools, and software debuggers
• Write robust, maintainable, and testable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Integrate with real‑time operating systems or bare‑metal environments.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to understand schematics, interfaces, and constraints.

Your background

• Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, memory models, and low-level programming concepts demonstrated through at least 10 years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Experience with openWRT
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
• Strong debugging skills across hardware and software layers.
• Knowledge of build systems and toolchains
• Ownership mentality and focus on quality and reliability.
• Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash)
