Job summary

Akamai Technologies in Poland is looking for a Principal Big Data Engineer to design and implement scalable solutions leveraging their Cloud Platform. The role involves developing data pipelines, creating new features, and collaborating with teams including Data Science and SecOps. Candidates should have extensive experience in Backend/Big Data environments, proficiency in modern programming languages, and experience with various data storage and streaming technologies. Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Backend / Big Data positions, welcome Backend Engineers without prior Big Data experience.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and monitoring data-intensive solutions.
• Have not written a single line of code by hand for the past six months.
• Have coerced AI into writing production-grade code in an automatic and cost-effective way.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable solutions powered by Akamai's Cloud Platform.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analyzing data.
• Create new features from scratch, while enhancing and optimizing existing ones.
• Implement Unit and Integration Tests.
• Participate in On-Call Rotation.
• Collaborate with various Stakeholders, such as Data Science, SecOps, and QA.

Skills

Backend / Big Data experience

Proficiency in Java / Scala / Python

Designing, Implementing & Monitoring data intensive solutions

Experience with Microservices, Akka, Spark, Flink

Experience with Data Storage Systems (Postgres, Mongo, Redis, Delta, Iceberg)

Experience with Streaming Technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)

Understanding of common Algorithms and Data Structures
