Wymagane jest uzyskanie stopnia PhD oraz spełnienie kryteriów NCN. Praca w dynamicznym zespole, z możliwością pracy zdalnej i okazjonalnymi wizytami w Warszawie.

Qualifications

• PhD w filozofii lub kognitywistyce.

Responsibilities

• Analizowanie przypadków i prowadzenie badań filozoficznych w wybranych subdyskursach mind i brain.
• Rozwijanie własnej ścieżki badawczej i analizy cnót teoretycznych.
• Tworzenie materiałów źródłowych do monografii projektu oraz analiza danych z badań cyfrowych.
• Współpraca w digital humanities i formułowanie zapytań analitycznych.
• Publikowanie co najmniej dwóch artykułów oraz udział w konferencjach międzynarodowych.
• Ko-edytowanie numeru czasopisma i współpraca z innymi zespołami.

Application requirements:

• cover letter (500–700 words) containing a description of research plans for the employment period (in Polish or English);
• academic curriculum vitae (CV) including professional career, list of publications (if applicable), information on internships, conferences and participation in research projects;

Work in research project Jak teoretyzować o umyśle: podejście metanauki poznawczej (English: Theorizing the Mind: Creating a Functional Atlas of Scientific Theories), led by dr. hab. Marcin Miłkowski, funded by the National Science Centre, Poland (UMO-2025/57/B/HS1/03084).

The main goal of the project is to create a "Functional Atlas of Theories" – the first systematic description of the diverse functions that scientific theories play in research on the mind and brain. The tasks of the person employed in the post-doctoral position will include:

• Conducting in-depth analyses of case studies – selection and implementation of intensive philosophical research on case studies of theorizing in selected subfields of brain and mind sciences;
• Developing one's own research path within the project – developing a detailed analysis of a selected set of theoretical virtues and an in-depth study of theory dynamics;
• Contributing to the main results of the project, including providing evidential and illustrative material for chapters/sections of the monograph being written within the project;
• Collaborating in digital humanities research and supporting the formulation and interpretation of queries used in digital analyses;
• Conducting research in the philosophy of logic and cognitive science;
• Actively participating in the academic life of the Department of Logic and Cognitive Science, including weekly seminars and team meetings;
• Preparing at least two peer-reviewed scientific articles as first author or leading co-author, and contributing to accompanying articles;
• Co-editing a special issue of a scientific journal together with the co-investigator and project leader;
• Presenting research findings at international conferences;
• Collaborating with other research teams at IFiS PAN and external centers.

Specific Requirements

• No other employment contract or direct NCN grant salary during the employment period.

Selection process

The selection process will consist of two stages. In the first stage, the recruitment committee will evaluate candidates based on their submitted documents: evaluation of scientific achievements/potential (40%) and evaluation of research plans (30%). Selected candidates will be invited to an interview for the second stage (30%). Interviews will take place at the Institute or online.
