Job summary

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher on an NCN-funded project. You will study source materials related to AD 400–600 from the eastern Mediterranean and collaborate with the PI on results, publications, and digital outputs.

The role blends philology and history with digital humanities methods; you will help build data models and interpret networks of people, texts and events.

Qualifications

• PhD in humanities required; PhD awarded within 12 years of employment date.
• Research experience in Ancient Greek literature, Byzantine literature, or related eras.
• Excellent command of Ancient Greek for reading primary sources.
• Scholarly publications in peer‑reviewed international journals preferred.
• International conference activity and mobility valued.
• Strong command of English; interviews conducted in English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in literary studies or ancient history within the project.
• Develop datasets and digital humanities resources for the project.
• Co-create datasets, methodological docs, and project reports.
• Present findings at international conferences; prepare publications in English.
• Coordinate research visits and archival/library inquiries abroad.
• Perform organizational tasks related to the project.
