The Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher position in Neuroscience within the Synaptogenesis Research Group. The project investigates AMOTL1 in brain circuits related to psychiatric disorders using advanced genetic, molecular, and imaging approaches.

We currently seek applicants for Post-doc in Neurosciencein the Synaptogenesis Research Group.

The Synaptogenesis Research Group is a laboratory conducting multidisciplinary research on the brain, skeletal muscles, and neuromuscular junctions. Our laboratory is multicultural, with about half of the lab members coming from abroad. We are committed to conducting innovative research at the best international level. Our recent publication Rojek K. et al., „Amot and Yap1 regulate neuronal dendritic tree complexity and locomotor coordination in mice” published in Plos Biology 2019 May 1;17(5):e3000253 has been awarded the prestigious Konorski Award for the best publication in neuroscience in Poland published in a given year. We are currently recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a project funded by the National Science Center (NCN) grant 2024/55/B/NZ3/02433. In this project, we will investigate the role of AMOTL1 in the brain in relation to psychiatric disorders. It is an innovative project, as the functions of AMOTL1 in the central nervous system have not been previously reported. Our laboratory, however, obtained strong preliminary data demonstrating that AMOTL1 regulates a spectrum of important processes in neurons and the brain. Conditional knockout mice lacking AMOTL1 expression specifically in neurons exhibit a spectrum of behavioral abnormalities characteristic of mouse models of psychiatric disorders. The primary scope of the current project is to dissect the functions of AMOTL1 in specific brain circuits that regulate emotional states and behavior. Our laboratory employs a range of cutting-edge methods, including but not limited to tissue-specific genetic modifications in mice, regulation of gene expression using recombinant AAV viruses, proteomics, RNA sequencing, complex biochemistry, neurotransmitter analysis, confocal microscopy, and cell culture. By joining the project, you will gain knowledge of various techniques from different fields of biology, and the results obtained will likely be published in reputable international journals.

Major responsibilities:

• Knowledge of any of the following techniques will be considered as added value: immunostaining of cells and tissues, confocal microscopy, Western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, protein purification, molecular cloning, PCR and qRT-PCR, viral-based gene delivery, cell culture, performing experiments on mice, breeding of transgenic and knockout animals.
• Full-time contract of employment on the post-doc position (Senior Specialist – Research Engineer);

• Training in the use of modern techniques, including work with conditional knockout mice for tissue-specific deletion, complex biochemistry, protein complex purification, in vivo imaging of synapses, and manipulations of neurons in the brain using AAVs.
