Job summary

Sggw invites applications for a PhD student position under the OPUS-19 project. The scholar will perform bioinformatic analysis of NGS data (miRNA and RNA-seq), predict targets, and integrate data. They will validate results by qPCR, perform statistics, and prepare reports and publications.

The position is tied to a doctoral degree within 12 months of project completion, with a monthly OPUS 19 doctoral scholarship of PLN 3,500. The work begins October 1, 2021 in Poland.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biotechnology, chemistry, biology or similar.
• Experience in working in the field of bioinformatics, Linux environment, working knowledge of programming.
• Knowledge in molecular biology and NGS data (transcriptomics, and miRNA especially).
• Good English language skills (written and spoken) that allows to work freely with written sources and prepare publications and conference presentations.
• Strong motivation for scientific work, independence and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Bioinformatic analysis of NGS data (miRNA and RNA-seq) and their verification.
• Target prediction and annotation, data integration.
• Verification of bioinformatic analysis by qPCR and statistics of results.
• Preparation of reports and scientific publications; active promotion of the project.
• Preparation of a doctoral dissertation and work towards the completion of the project within 12 months.
