Job summary

Tieto in Szczecin is seeking a developer who can combine Python, SQL and data tooling with subsurface and drilling data knowledge. You will discuss data objects like wells, trajectories, logs, seismic cubes and geomodels and work with Petrel/DISKOS to build scalable data pipelines and AI-ready workflows.

You will collaborate with geophysicists and SMEs to translate workflows into reusable data and AI solutions, developing dashboards and ensuring data quality across products.

Qualifications

• Domain knowledge of subsurface data objects and their relationships.
• Experience with Python, SQL and cloud/data-visualization tools.
• Familiarity with Petrel, DISKOS or similar Geo data sources is a plus.

Job Description

Developer combining knowledge of Python, basic SQL, agents and vibe-coding tools with a basic understanding of subsurface and drilling data. The candidate should have a general understanding of subsurface and drilling data objects like wells, well trajectories and logs, markers, seismic cubes, geomodels, production profiles etc. such that they can discuss potential challenges with these data. Experience of the standard data sources for subsurface data, Petrel & Studio, DISKOS etc. is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Specify, develop data pipelines for subsurface and drilling data flows.
• Build and maintain data products (for seismic, well data) on the data platform.
• Align with teams supporting and creating production data products.
• Develop QC dashboards for data products.
• Integrate seismic and well metadata for cataloguing
• Enable AI / ML workflows on seismic and well metadata (classification, similarity search) and integrate with commercial seismic ML tools.
• Partner with geophysicists and SMEs to translate seismic workflows into reusable data and AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Domain expertise: Sound understanding of subsurface data objects and the relationships between them. Familiarity with standard data sources, Petrel, DISKOS, Collabor8 etc. is an advantage.
• Data & technology: Python, SQL, Snowflake, Azure, Power BI / Streamlit. Experience with Geo applications Petrel, ArcGIS is an advantage.
• AI utilisation: Awareness of cloud-native seismic AI services and assistant patterns; familiarity with Microsoft AI suite.
• Soft skills & ways of working: Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (English mandatory, Norwegian a plus). Pro-active, structured and pragmatic problem solver. Comfortable working iteratively in an agile setup with SMEs, product owners and a multi-discipline data platform team.
