About the Remote Licensed Therapist (1099 Contractor) role at Headspace:
Headspace is currently seeking part-time, independently licensed contractor therapists to provide direct, virtual care as part of a multidisciplinary team on a 1099 contract basis.
To get started, we strongly encourage having 10+ hours available per week with flexible scheduling. More is welcome depending on your schedule. Care demand and member scheduling fluctuations may mean a number of weeks to achieve a consistent schedule.
The pay for the Contract Mental Health Therapist ranges from $82-$87 per teletherapy session. Exact reimbursement rates are determined during the interview process and based on factors including location, licensure type, experience, specializations, languages, and populations served.
Session length is 60 minutes for an intake and 45 minutes for a follow-up, with concurrent note-taking included in the session rate. All Headspace therapists must be licensed and reside in the US. Data access must occur within the U.S. Only 50 states; territories excluded.

What you will do:
- Provide tele-therapy to Headspace patients via HIPAA-compliant video platform
- Complete and sign clinical notes within 48 hours of session as part of per-session reimbursement
- Maintain a personal database to record licensure, updates, expiration dates, and contact information
- Keep your availability calendar up to date
- Collaborate with a care team including health coaches, therapists, psychiatrists and external providers
What you will bring:
- 3+ years of clinical psychotherapy experience with individuals, couples, or families
- Independent clinical license in good standing (Master's or Doctoral level); BC-TMH credential if required by state
- Ability to offer at least 10 sessions per week with ability to flex up or down
- Night and weekend availability is a plus
- Competence in evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness) and measurement-based care
- Experience with risk management and higher acuity cases
- Commitment to culturally responsive care
- Familiarity with care delivery technology (EMR, video, Google apps, etc.)
- Reliable internet and a suitable private space for Zoom-based sessions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred (if applicable)
- Licensure in multiple states
- Licensed psychologist with willingness to apply for PSYPACT
- Ability to serve diverse populations
- Familiarity with Headspace app and content
- Evening availability to support member care flexibility
