Job summary

Kraken is seeking a mobile-focused React Native engineer to own the look and feel of the Kraken app on a mobile-first React Native codebase. You will work with Reanimated and Skia, bridging to native when needed, focusing on a polished, fast, and trustworthy user experience.

You will partner with product designers to push the boundaries of motion and interaction, while profiling and optimizing for performance across devices and OS versions.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating craft in mobile UI/UX for crypto apps.
• Deep React Native fluency with Reanimated and gesture handling.
• Experience profiling JS thread vs UI thread and optimizing frame rendering.
• Good sense of motion, easing curves, and transitions.

Responsibilities

• Own the motion and interaction layer of the Kraken app, including easing, springs, gestures, transitions, and haptics.
• Evolve the mobile design system and own critical components used by engineers.
• Partner with product designers to elevate motion and interaction from concept to implementation.
• Profile and optimise rendering performance on a range of devices, including lower-end Androids.
• Contribute to architectural decisions affecting UI responsiveness: state management and data flow.
• Set a higher bar for quality through code reviews, examples, and creating reusable patterns.
