Job summary

Kosmok is designing docking interfaces and mechanisms for spacecraft. You will develop latching, alignment and damping systems for CIRI.AB and CIRI.AD, moving concepts through tolerancing to tested hardware.

You will size parts, verify with FEA in Altair, and run docking tests on a 4-DoF stand, preparing units for thermal vacuum and vibration testing. Lab and desk work balanced, with hands-on fabrication support.

Qualifications

• A degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Mechanism design: kinematics, bearings, springs, actuators, tolerancing.
• SolidWorks, and drawings a machine shop can build from.
• Structural analysis with FEA (we use Altair).
• You like being in the lab as much as at the desk.

Design and qualify the mechanisms that let two spacecraft connect: the CIRI docking interface, its latches and dampers, and the rigs we test them on.

• Design latching, alignment and damping mechanisms for CIRI.AB (berthing) and CIRI.AD (direct docking)
• Take mechanisms from concept through tolerance stack-ups and drawings to tested hardware
• Size and verify parts with FEA in Altair
• Build and run docking tests on our 4-DoF test stand
• Prepare units for thermal vacuum, vibration and shock testing

What you bring
