Astek in Poland is seeking a Materials Engineer/Welding Engineer for its Oil & Gas client. The role focuses on subsea materials engineering, welding processes, and NDE proficiency, with experience in EPC/OEM environments and international standards.

You will interact with clients and suppliers, manage multiple projects, and contribute to technical governance and risk assessments. Fluent English required, with long-term collaboration and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Materials or Welding Engineering required.
  • Significant subsea materials experience in EPC/OEM.
  • Strong welding knowledge, qualifications, and NDE proficiency.
  • NDE Level 3 certification is mandatory.
  • IWE or equivalent considered an advantage.
  • Experience with EPC systems and complex project delivery.
  • Familiarity with DNV, ISO, API, ASME, NORSOK standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Fluent English communications with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Review client specifications, standards, codes, and environmental conditions.
  • Prepare Material Selection Reports and Corrosion Protection Philosophies.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, and technical queries.
  • Evaluate and qualify suppliers and sub-vendors for capabilities and compliance.
  • Review and approve fabrication documents, WPS/PQRs, ITPs, and NDE procedures.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and fabrication activities.
  • Investigate and resolve materials- and welding-related non-conformances.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and governance processes.
  • Support tendering and proposal activities with technical risk assessment.

At the Engineering Competence Center, we deliver services and projects for the Automotive, Rail, and Oil & Gas sectors. Our specialized engineering teams work within project and competency groups, whose activities we manage. We also conduct training and certification programs to enhance the engineering competencies of our consultants.

Position

Materials Engineer/Welding Engineer (she/him) for our client in the Oil & Gas industry.

Qualifications
  • You hold a degree in Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related discipline
  • You have significant experience in Subsea Materials Engineering, ideally within EPC or OEM environment
  • You possess strong technical knowledge of welding processes, welding qualifications, and NDE techniques
  • You are certified as NDE Level 3 (mandatory requirement)
  • Additional certifications such as IWE or equivalent are considered an advantage
  • You have experience working on EPC systems and complex project delivery models
  • You have a proven track record in Subsea Systems Delivery, including production equipment and associated infrastructure
  • You are familiar with international standards and codes such as DNV, ISO, API, ASME, and NORSOK
  • You can effectively manage multiple technical priorities and work under pressure across several projects simultaneously
  • You communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken, and are comfortable interfacing with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
Responsibilities
  • Reviewing and interpreting client specifications, international standards, codes, and environmental/field conditions
  • Preparing Material Selection Reports, Corrosion Protection Philosophies, and related technical documentation
  • Supporting design reviews, technical risk assessments, and resolving materials-related technical queries
  • Evaluating and qualifying suppliers and sub-vendors, including assessment of capabilities, procedures, and compliance
  • Reviewing and approving fabrication and manufacturing documentation, including WPS/PQRs, ITPs, material certificates, and NDE procedures
  • Providing technical support to manufacturing and fabrication activities, including coordination with shops and vendors
  • Investigating and resolving materials- and welding-related non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective action support
  • Contributing to lessons learned initiatives, continuous improvement activities, and technical governance processes
  • Supporting tendering and proposal activities, including technical scope definition and technical risk assessment
