Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer to own and evolve the central DevOps practice. You will design and operate CI/CD pipelines, standardize deployment patterns, and codify infrastructure across on-premise and Azure AKS environments.

You will lead the build-out of Kubernetes infrastructure, containerize legacy workloads, and implement automation across the delivery lifecycle with strong governance and observability.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on experience designing and owning end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, including blue-green and canary deployments.
• Strong production experience building and operating Kubernetes on-premise and in the cloud (Azure AKS).
• Ability to stand up and operate Kubernetes clusters at scale in hybrid environments.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, ARM/Bicep).
• Knowledge of Azure networking, security, cost-aware architecture, and TLS offload.

Job description

• Design, build, and own central CI/CD pipelines with consistent, governed, self-service delivery


• Standardise build, test, release, and rollback patterns, including blue-green and canary deployments


• Codify infrastructure and configuration as code


• Embed automated quality, security, and compliance gates into pipelines


• Establish observability, monitoring, and alerting as core platform capabilities


• Lead the design and build-out of Kubernetes infrastructure on-premise and on Azure cloud/AKS


• Containerise existing workloads and migrate them to a modern automated container platform


• Apply scalable architecture patterns for transactional data, caching, configuration services, and TLS offload


• Select virtualisation and infrastructure approaches that maximise performance


• Deliver automatic horizontal scaling based on demand


• Validate implementations through lab, proof of concept, limited production, and migration stages


• Act as platform owner and technical authority for DevOps practice


• Partner with development, data, and infrastructure teams to align toolchains and reduce deployment toil


• Mentor engineers and improve automation maturity


• Shape platform decisions involving streaming, caching, data tiering, and build-versus-buy choices

• Experience with Docker, Helm, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM/Bicep or equivalent


• Solid knowledge of Azure, networking, AKS, identity, and cost-aware architecture


• Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments


• Working knowledge of relational databases, in-memory caches, and event streaming in production


• Knowledge of load balancing, TLS termination/offload, firewalls, and network segmentation


• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or equivalent monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks


• Ability to set platform standards and influence development teams


• CKA/CKAD or equivalent Kubernetes certification is desirable


• Experience containerising legacy web and application workloads is desirable


• Experience with enterprise virtualisation platforms is desirable


• Experience in regulated, high-availability, or high-throughput environments is desirable


• Experience with service mesh, GitOps, and policy-as-code is desirable
