Allegro is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead backend teams focusing on settlement and logistics platform development. You will drive technical strategy, scale distributed services, and align with product goals, bridging technical excellence with business outcomes.

You will guide leaders, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product Management and Senior Leadership to ensure delivery predictability and system resilience in a fast-paced e-commerce ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Experience as Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or similar leadership role guiding multiple backend teams.
• Strong backend engineering background (JVM, Java or Kotlin) and modern architectural patterns.
• Experience with high-scale distributed systems, financial or logistics domains is a plus.
• Excellent business acumen and communication, able to work with senior leadership.
• Passion for people leadership, mentoring, and autonomous, delivery-focused culture.
• Fluent in Polish and English.

Allegro’s Delivery Experience area is looking for a strategic and visionary Engineering Manager to lead backend engineering teams powering our partner settlement and logistics platform. • Act as a "leader of leaders," shaping technical strategy, driving delivery, and collaborating closely with Product Management and Senior Leadership. You will bridge complex logistics and financial operations with robust, scalable engineering solutions.

In your daily work, you will handle the following tasks:

• Defining and executing the technical roadmap and architecture strategy for settlement and carrier integration systems in close collaboration with Product and Business partners.


• Leading and supporting multiple backend engineering teams, fostering technical excellence, ownership, and high delivery standards.


• Overseeing the reliability, and accuracy of high-scale financial settlement flows, carrier cost calculations, and partner billing platforms.


• Acting as a trusted bridge between senior stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams - translating complex business expectations into reliable technical solutions.


• Driving predictable engineering delivery, managing cross-domain dependencies, and tracking delivery milestones and system health metrics.


• Collaborating with leadership to build a high-performing engineering culture, develop leadership talent within teams, and support organizational growth.

We are looking for people who:

• Have proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or similar leadership role guiding multiple backend software engineering teams.


• Possess a solid technical background in backend engineering (JVM ecosystem: Java or Kotlin) and stay up to date with modern architectural patterns, with the ability to guide technical decisions without needing to be hands-on daily.


• Have experience in high-scale distributed systems - a background or familiarity with financial systems, settlements, billing, fintech, or logistics is a strong plus.


• Demonstrate strong business acumen and communication skills, comfortable presenting to senior leadership and collaborating with non-technical business partners.


• Are passionate about people leadership, mentoring team leads and engineers, and creating an autonomous, delivery-focused team culture.


• Exhibit a strategic and product-oriented mindset, focused on delivery predictability, operational excellence, and data integrity.


• Are fluent in both Polish and English.
