A leading name in the facilities management and building services sector is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee operations at a prestigious Grade A commercial building in Canary Wharf. This is a high-profile opportunity to lead a dedicated engineering team, manage client relationships, and ensure the seamless delivery of technical services in one of London’s most iconic business districts.
The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of building services operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and service excellence. You’ll lead a team of multi-skilled engineers and subcontractors, manage budgets, and act as the key point of contact for client-side stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of engineers and technicians.
- Conduct regular briefings, performance reviews, and training sessions.
- Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed to high standards and within SLA/KPI targets.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems including LV electrical distribution, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, HVAC systems including AHUs, FCUs, chillers, boilers, and BMS.
- Water hygiene and Legionella compliance. Ensure plant rooms are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
- Ensure all statutory compliance is met, including risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, audits, and inspections.
- Champion health & safety across the site and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client representatives. Attend regular meetings, provide updates, and manage expectations. Identify opportunities for service improvement and energy efficiency.
- Manage budgets and control costs effectively. Oversee procurement and performance of subcontractors. Support lifecycle planning and minor project works.
Qualifications
- Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND) + 18th Edition (if electrically biased).
- Proven track record in managing building services within high-end commercial environments.
- Strong leadership, excellent communication, and a client-focused approach.
- In-depth understanding of building systems, compliance frameworks, and FM operations.
Salary & Benefits
Up to £65,000 per annum
- Monday to Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM
