A growing energy startup is seeking a Lead Product Designer to improve energy management systems. The role involves end-to-end design, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and conducting user research. Ideal candidates have a proven track record in product design, are detail-oriented, and thrive in fast-paced environments. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits including flexible PTO and hybrid work arrangements.
Runwise is looking for a Lead Product Designer who is highly motivated, results-oriented, and focused on business growth opportunities.
Runwise (www.runwise.com) is a fast-paced New York City based energy startup that controls and runs heating systems in 6000+ buildings throughout the Northeast. Runwise’s hardware and software services reduce energy usage, lower costs, and cut carbon emissions. The role involves leading end-to-end design for high-impact features that improve how buildings manage heating, cooling, and energy systems.
This role is hands-on and fast-moving: you’ll own end-to-end design, ship quickly, iterate with feedback from real users, and work closely with PMs, engineers, and building operators to create intuitive tools that make complex mechanical systems feel obvious. The interfaces you design will impact energy savings, tenant comfort, and carbon reduction at scale.
We value honesty, curiosity, and deep care for the work you produce.
Send a few projects or screens you’re proud of (Figma links, PDFs, websites—anything that shows your thinking and building). Include what you worked on and what problems you solved. If this feels like 60% you, reach out. We hire people, not checkboxes. Let’s design systems that heat, cool, and actually matter.
Salary: $160,000-$200,000 (varied on experience and market rate)
This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing company and create a career path beyond this initial role. You will be surrounded by talented people, including close collaboration with our co-founder and sales leader, and your work will help reduce carbon emissions across the country.
