Job summary

Bonapolia, a Lisbon-based IT staff augmentation team, is seeking experienced Forward Deployed Engineers to design and build reusable Claude Code Skills. The role partners with business stakeholders to translate requirements into executable AI workflows.

You will work across software development, prompt and context engineering, and automation to deliver production-ready solutions for client projects under a B2B contract with monthly invoicing.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience using Claude Code in real software development or business-workflow scenarios.
• Experience creating Claude Code Skills or comparable reusable AI capabilities.
• Strong understanding of AI engineering patterns including agentic workflows, tool use, prompt engineering, and context engineering.
• Proven software engineering experience building, reviewing, testing, and maintaining production-quality solutions.
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical designs and executable workflows.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand objectives, processes, constraints, and expected outcomes.
• Analyse requirements, templates, and reference materials provided by stakeholders.
• Identify workflows and use cases for Claude Code Skills.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain reusable Claude Code Skills.
• Create instructions, supporting scripts, reference materials, validation logic, and reusable workflow components.
• Translate complex business processes into structured, executable instructions for AI agents.
• Evaluate skill behaviour using realistic scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Improve reliability, accuracy, usability, and maintainability through iterative testing and stakeholder feedback.

Role Overview

We are looking for experienced Forward Deployed Engineers to design and build reusable skills for Claude Code.

The team will work closely with business stakeholders and domain experts to translate business

requirements, reference materials, and operational knowledge into reliable Claude Code Skills.

This is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of software development, prompt and

context engineering, and business process automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders and domain experts to understand their objectives, processes, constraints, and expected outcomes.
• Analyse business requirements, documentation, examples, templates, and other reference materials provided by stakeholders.
• Identify workflows and use cases that can be implemented or improved through Claude Code Skills.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain reusable Claude Code Skills.
• Create clear skill instructions, supporting scripts, reference materials, validation logic, and reusable workflow components.
• Translate complex or ambiguous business processes into structured, executable instructions for AI agents.
• Evaluate skill behaviour using realistic scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Improve the reliability, accuracy, usability, and maintainability of developed skills through iterative testing and stakeholder feedback.

Required Experience:

• Strong hands-on experience using Claude Code in real software-development or business-workflow scenarios.
• Practical experience creating Claude Code Skills or comparable reusable capabilities for AI coding agents.
• Strong understanding of modern AI engineering patterns, including agentic workflows, tool use, prompt engineering, context engineering, and structured instruction design.
• Proven hands‑on software engineering experience and the ability to build, review, test, and maintain production-quality solutions.
• Ability to transform business requirements and domain knowledge into clear technical designs and executable workflows.
• Experience evaluating and improving non-deterministic AI solutions.

Nice to have:

• Hands‑on experience with Claude Code, and specifically with authoring Claude Code
• Skills, plugins, or MCP servers.
• Evaluation tooling for LLM systems (promptfoo, LangSmith, custom harnesses).
• Consulting or professional services background.
• Domain exposure to HR technology, compensation & benefits, payroll, or workforce analytics.
• Experience building internal developer tooling or standing up a platform capability.
• Public artefacts: open-source agent tooling, published skills or plugins, conference talks, technical writing on agentic engineering.

• Model: B2B contract with Bonapolia - one contract, one monthly invoice
• Rate: negotiated per candidate seniority and client budget
• Payment: monthly invoice, paid on the same schedule the client pays us (usually 30 days)

• We handle the client-side paperwork: MSA, NDA, invoicing
