EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead AI Data Software Engineer to join our Data Competency Center. You will lead engineering teams to deliver innovative analytics solutions across cloud, data, and AI domains.

You will collaborate with product and engineering teams, mentor engineers, and help drive AI adoption while working with a global client portfolio. This role supports remote work within Poland and offers growth, relocation possibilities, and a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development with Data Software Engineering technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of Python.
• Vast experience with Spark and Databricks.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with and confidence in using AI development tools eg. Claude Code, Github Copilot, Cursor.
• Experience in managing small and mid-size teams using Agile methodology.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English (B2+)

• Drive next waves of AI adoption.

• Build collaborative partnerships with architects, technical leads and key individuals within other functional groups.
• Perform detailed analysis of business problems and technical environments and use this in designing quality technical solution.
• Actively participate in code review and test solutions to ensure they meet best practice specifications.
• Build and foster a high-performance engineering culture, mentor team members and provide the team with the tools and motivation.
• Write project documentation.

Requirements

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with and confidence in using AI development tools eg. Claude Code, Github Copilot, Cursor
• Experience in managing small and mid-size teams using Agile methodology
• Ability to explain technological solutions in a simple, business-oriented way
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English (B2+)

Nice to have

• Experience in building Agentic AI solutions
• Preferred experience with message queues, specifically Kafka, and working with large data transfer applications/middleware
• Production experience in search technologies such as Solr, OpenSearch, or Lucene is highly advantageous
• Knowledge of Scala or Java
