Job summary

HERE Technologies seeks a Principal Agentic AI Engineer to architect and deliver a platform enabling AI agents to reason about and act on physical world data. You will drive technical direction for how location intelligence is consumed by agents at scale, across environments, with hands‑on implementation.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, design reliable, cost‑effective systems, and mentor engineers. This role blends deep engineering with practical judgment on model behavior and deployment

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering production‑grade agentic systems end‑to‑end.
• Experience with agentic systems, including evaluation, reliability, and safety patterns.
• Strong Rust and Python (Rust especially valued) with ML frameworks experience.
• Solid fundamentals in system design, distributed systems, APIs, observability and performance.
• Hands‑on use of AI tools to boost engineering productivity.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and system design: Own the design of core platform capabilities exposing location intelligence to AI agents via clean interfaces.
• Execution and integration: Build the layer that turns complex location intent into deterministic results and integrate multiple services and data sources.
• Performance, cost, and edge: Optimize latency, cost, and reliability, including edge environments like automotive.
• Reliability and evaluation: Design evaluation strategies, benchmarking, and reliability patterns to prove performance.
• Technical leadership: Lead reviews, mentor engineers, and clearly communicate trade‑offs to stakeholders.
