Job summary

Allegro Ltd. seeks an Automation QA Engineer in Warsaw to build and maintain automated tests for high‑traffic services. You will work with experienced engineers to ensure reliability and data integrity across microservices.

You should know testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Kotest, pytest or similar), test HTTP/REST APIs, have SQL basics, and be comfortable with Git and PR reviews. This is a hybrid role with 4/1 schedule and occasional remote work.

Qualifications

• Familiar with at least one automated testing framework and write maintainable tests.
• Knowledge of HTTP/REST APIs and testing with tools like Postman or REST Assured.
• Basic SQL understanding and data persistence concepts.
• Fundamentals of software testing including test design techniques and bug reporting.
• Git basics: branches, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Ability to test manual API/backend behaviors to understand services end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for high-traffic services.
• Identify and catch regressions to improve reliability and data integrity.
• Test APIs and backend components; verify data flow and persistence.
• Collaborate with engineers in a Warsaw-based hybrid team and participate in code reviews.

Flexible working hours in the hybrid model (4/1) - working hours start between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. We also have 30 days of occasional remote work.

This is the right job for you if you:

Know at least one automated testing framework (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Kotest, pytest, or similar) and understand the basics of writing maintainable tests (assertions, test data, setup/teardown).

Understand HTTP and REST APIs (methods, status codes, headers, JSON) and can test them with tools like Postman or libraries like REST Assured.

Have a basic understanding of databases (SQL) and how backend systems process and persist data.

Know the fundamentals of software testing: test levels, test design techniques (e.g., equivalence partitioning, boundary values), and how to write clear bug reports.

Are comfortable with Git and the basics of working with a code repository (branches, pull requests, code review).

See manual API/backend testing as the best way to understand a service before you automate it.

Have a keen eye for detail and think about the whole system and data flow, not just a single feature.

Want to be proud of the code you write, are open to feedback, and are willing to share your knowledge.

Communicate well in a team, ask questions, and act as a "customer ambassador" for the product.

Know English and Polish at B2 level or higher.

Nice to have:

Experience working in a microservices environment (understanding service-to-service communication, contracts, and asynchronous messaging).

Experience using AI coding agents (e.g., Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot) to speed up writing and reviewing tests, along with a critical approach to verifying their output.

Experience with performance, contract, or E2E tests (e.g., Gatling/k6, Pact, Playwright).
