Job summary

LITIT is seeking a Mid-Level Java Backend Developer to join the engineering team. You will build reliable, maintainable, and scalable backend services using Java, Quarkus/Jakarta EE, and Spring Boot, with a focus on REST APIs, persistence, and security.

You’ll collaborate with frontend developers and other engineers, work with Git, containers, and CI/CD, and have opportunities to apply AI concepts in modern software development. Remote work options are available, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient Java backend developer with mid-level experience.
• Experience with Quarkus, Jakarta EE, or Spring Boot.
• Understanding of backend architecture and development principles.
• Experience with persistence and database interaction.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Mid-Level Java Backend Developer to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of reliable, maintainable, and scalable backend services.

You will work primarily with Java and Quarkus/Jakarta EE in a modern development environment. Experience with Spring Boot is also highly relevant, particularly if you are comfortable transferring your knowledge to Quarkus

This is a hands-on development role where you will work closely with frontend developers and other engineers on backend services, APIs, integrations, testing, and application security.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Java.

• Develop solutions using Quarkus/Jakarta EE and related technologies.

• Design and maintain REST APIs and integrations between systems.

• Work with databases and application persistence.

• Implement data mapping and use appropriate tooling to reduce repetitive boilerplate code.

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable Java code.

• Create and maintain unit and integration tests.

• Apply appropriate backend security practices.

• Troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to continuous improvements.

• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Work with Git, containers, and CI/CD pipelines as part of the development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with frontend developers and other engineering stakeholders on API contracts and technical solutions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Professional software development experience with Java at a solid mid-level.

• Experience with Quarkus, Jakarta EE, or Spring Boot.

• Good understanding of backend application architecture and development principles.

• Practical experience with persistence and database interaction.

• Experience with mapping and boilerplate-reduction tooling commonly used within the Java ecosystem.

• Experience writing unit and integration tests for backend applications.

• Understanding of application and API security principles.

• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.

• Comfortable working with Git.

• Experience with containers, such as Docker.

• Understanding of CI/CD fundamentals and modern software delivery practices.

• Good understanding of AI concepts and current AI technologies. You do not need to be an AI specialist, but you should be familiar with the topic and understand how AI is being applied in modern software development.

• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a development team.

• Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.

• Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with Quarkus.

  • Experience migrating or transferring applications/knowledge from Spring Boot to Quarkus.

  • Experience with enterprise-scale or distributed applications.

  • Familiarity with cloud environments and container orchestration.

  • Interest in applying AI tools and technologies within software engineering workflows.
