Over the past three years, we’ve embarked on an ambitious digital transformation journey, focusing on customer-centricity and optimizing our IT services. As we continue to grow, we’re establishing a new team in Poland, and this role will be instrumental in shaping our expansion efforts.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and empathetic IT Manager to guide and grow our engineering talent. You will lead a team of Software Engineers working on different areas of our IT Platforms landscape: Integrations Delivery, Integrations Platform, Automations, Data Platform. Our engineers operate within agile teams, and you will collaborate closely with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Architects, and other key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor and coach a team of engineers and other technical roles, supporting their career development and growth within agile teams.
  • Foster a culture of ownership and accountability within the team, empowering engineers to lead initiative and drive their work forward.
  • Facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across different agile teams and with other organizational roles.
  • Oversee performance management, conduct regular 1:1s, and provide constructive feedback to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a positive team culture that values diversity, inclusion, and psychological safety.
  • Work with leadership to define and implement strategies for team development, skill enhancement, and organizational efficiency.
Your background
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a leadership or management role within a technical environment, specifically focused on people development and team guidance (we don’t require hands-on engineering).
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience working with cross-functional agile teams.
  • Good knowledge of the software development lifecycle; prior development experience is considered a strong advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships, foster mutual trust and influence effectively.
  • A passion for mentoring, coaching, and empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including other leads, product managers, and senior leadership.

Practical Details

Blue Water Shipping is headquartered in Esbjerg Denmark and our IT development teams are in Esbjerg and Gdansk. The primary location for this role is the Blue Water Shipping’s office in Gdansk, Poland. There might be occasional travel to Esbjerg in Denmark or Warsaw.
