This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Intermediate Backend Engineer (Ruby), Verify:Pipeline Authoring in EMEA.

In this role, you will join a distributed engineering team responsible for advancing CI/CD pipeline authoring tools that power modern software development. You will contribute to building and scaling critical features such as component catalogs and pipeline composition, ensuring reliability, performance, and a seamless developer experience.

This position offers the opportunity to work asynchronously across global time zones in a highly collaborative and innovation-driven environment. You will actively shape solutions that simplify complex engineering challenges and drive impact across thousands of users. Accountabilities

As an Intermediate Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Writing high-quality, efficient, and maintainable Ruby on Rails code.
  • Delivering small features and improvements independently, while collaborating on larger initiatives.
  • Enhancing performance, security, and scalability of pipeline authoring tools.
  • Identifying and resolving technical debt to increase team efficiency.
  • Participating in agile practices such as planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver user-focused solutions.
  • Contributing to code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Taking part in Tier 2 on-call rotations to address urgent engineering issues.
Requirements

To succeed in this position, you should bring:

  • Proven proficiency with Ruby and Ruby on Rails, including writing testable code.
  • Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Familiarity with GraphQL (a plus).
  • Ability to thrive in an asynchronous, remote-first team environment.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical issues and propose solutions.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and end-to-end software development practices.
  • Collaborative mindset, openness to feedback, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Previous experience in distributed teams is an advantage.
