Job summary

Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with Indian Health Services (IHS), is seeking an experienced Hospitalist Physician for a 1099 contract assignment at Hopi Health Care Center. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who enjoys inpatient medicine and providing comprehensive care to patients in a close-knit community. Start Date: September.

Schedule: up to full time | 12-hour shifts. Contract Length: Up to 1 year with extension options. Location: Polacca, Arizona.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited residency program.
• Board Certification or Board Eligible in appropriate specialty.
• Active, unrestricted MD or DO license (any U.S. state accepted).
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient medical care to hospitalized patients.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Perform patient assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Manage admissions, daily rounding, and patient care coordination.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, lab results, and imaging.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

What You'll Do

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited residency program
• Minimum of 2–3 years of inpatient hospitalist experience preferred
• Must be a U.S. citizen living primarily in the United States
• Must be able to pass a federal security clearance

• Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
• Previous IHS experience preferred
