Overview

Purpose: The Mechanic Inspects, cleans, repairs, and modifies other components utilized on one of the following combat platforms M113, M109 and other track variance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and/or repair commanders weapon station/auxiliary sights, aiming circles, image transfer assemblies, quadrants, mount assemblies, fire control support equipment.
  • Maintain and/or repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform battlefield damage assessment and repair.
  • Identify, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions using appropriate procedures and applicable technical manuals, TMDE, and tools of the turret.
  • Perform maintenance on gas particulate systems, vehicular mounted armament and associated fire control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate system malfunctions utilizing technical manuals, schematic diagrams, special and standard electronic and mechanical TMDE.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on previously diagnosed malfunctions on fire control systems used in combat vehicles, off-carriage lasers, designators, thermal sights, and night vision devices.
  • Design, fabricate, and adapt tools and fixtures to facilitate further fire control instrument repairs or as new types of fire control equipment is adopted by the Army.
  • May instruct other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of fire control instruments and TMDE.
  • Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Instill a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  • Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of Quality Management System.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • 5 years’ relevant maintenance required.
  • 1 year Track experience required
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • International driver’s license prior to deployment.
Certification, License & Clearance
  • Valid US Driver’s license required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CAC, if required.

Facility credentials/authorization required: Must be able to obtain and maintain facility and credential /authorization. Note- US Citizenship is required for facility credential/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands
  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
