Job summary

TPConnects Technologies is seeking a Head of AI-Driven Quality Engineering to redefine how we test our platform with AI at the center. You will own the QA strategy, standards, and tooling, guiding automation adoption across engineering squads while keeping engineering judgment in the loop.

You will design and pilot AI-driven test automation for core APIs, mentor QA engineers, and collaborate with Directors, PMs and Architects to raise the bar on quality across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Define and roll out company-wide testing standards, tools, frameworks and processes across all squads.
• Generate ideas to improve our QA flows and drive them as cross-team projects, from proposal to adoption.
• Design, prototype and lead our AI-driven API test automation strategy, evaluating third‑party and industry tools along the way.
• Create and deliver our manual-to-automation migration plan, with clear priorities, milestones and targets.
• Define how manual, exploratory and automated testing work together in fast, two-week delivery cycles.
• Own the shared automation architecture and integrate automated tests into our CI/CD pipelines.
• Define quality KPIs and dashboards that show the quality output of each squad and the whole organisation.
• Present our QA processes and results clearly to engineering leadership, product and customer‑facing teams.
• Mentor and upskill QA engineers, especially in automation and AI‑assisted testing, and support Engineering Managers in growing their QAs.
• Stay hands‑on: write automation code, build proofs of concept and review test code.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Head of AI-Driven Quality Engineering to redesign how we test our platform, with AI at the centre of it. This is a new role with real ownership: you’ll define one modern, pragmatic way of doing quality across all our engineering squads.

Our QA engineers are embedded in product squads and ship new features every two-week sprint. You’ll own the tools, standards and processes they use, lead the move towards more automation, and work with a dotted line to key QA engineers while they stay part of their squads under their Engineering Managers.

We’re looking for an engineer at heart : someone who writes code, builds prototypes, takes initiative and turns improvement ideas into projects that teams actually adopt. You’ll work closely with Engineering Directors, Engineering Managers, Product Managers and Architects.

AI-driven quality engineering

We use Claude AI coding assistants as part of our everyday engineering workflow, including to generate and improve tests and create documentation. In this role,you’l take that much further for quality.

You’ll design and pilot our AI-driven API test automation strategy , starting from our core APIs such as TPC Express API: from AI-assisted test design and generation, through test data and failure analysis, to auto-generated documentation. It’s experimental work, and you’ll have the freedom to evaluate industry tools, run pilots, measure results and scale what works, while keeping strong engineering standards and sound human judgement in the loop.

What you’ll do

Leadership

• Proven experience as a people manager, leading and developing QA or engineering staff.
• Experience creating QA strategies, cross-team standards, KPIs and scalable quality processes.
• Ability to drive change across several teams through influence, initiative and strong project coordination.
• Strong communication skills: you can explain quality results simply to engineers, leaders and customers.
• Experience working with engineering and product leadership in a fast‑moving product company.

Technical background

• Strong developer mindset and hands‑on coding skills, ideally in Java or TypeScript.
• Deep test automation experience, especially API testing of microservices, plus modern UI automation (e.g. Playwright, Cypress or Selenium).
• Daily, practical use of AI tools in engineering work, with real examples of how AI improved your testing.
• A pragmatic, balanced view of manual and automated testing, and experience leading a move towards more automation.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD, Agile delivery and cloud‑native, API‑driven architectures (AWS preferred).

Nice to have

• Experience in travel technology or airline distribution.
• Knowledge of IATA standards such as NDC, OneOrderor ARM.
• Experience with AI‑based testing platforms or building in‑house AI testing tools.
• Experience with contract testing, API mocking or performance testing.
• Experience working with distributed or international engineering teams.
