Qualifications

Dev-Ops Engineer job is responsible for providing engineering expertise in an engineering area which may include, but is not limited to deployment pipelines, security engineering, developer controls and governance.

They will be responsible for supporting and maintaining platforms specific to a HSBC business area that requires specialist Technology engineering expertise; provide subject matter expertise to one or more technology teams on the area of their Technology engineering specialism.

You will also have the opportunity to shape the transformation across a large area of the bank, CTO Infrastructure, you will influence CTO all the way down to a new joiner in your day-to-day work. The opportunity to join a small, tight knit, high powered group of change agents working on deployment controls automation.

We are looking for 1x Dev-Ops Engineering to join the Controls automation

What you’ll do
  • Work on internal control tooling used by CTO
  • Write and maintain high-quality code in DevOps languages (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform)
  • Work with hybrid cloud and public cloud.
  • Be reasonable for deployment and management including setting service quality targets.
  • Participate in on-call rotations or production support as needed.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, standards, and best practices for CI/CD and DevOps tooling.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment processes whilst continuously improving current CTO practices, tools, and systems to support our global engineering community.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
  • Deep Knowledge of Regulatory Controls: Strong understanding of compliance, correct practices, and governance in a regulated environment.
  • Tech-Forward Mindset: Actively research and drive adoption of new ideas, processes, and technologies.
  • Expertise in CI/CD and DevOps: Hands-on experience (3+ years) in one or more areas such as: Software Development: Secure coding, SDLC, API development, or clean code management or Site Reliability Engineering: Release engineering, observability, endpoint management, or risk management.
  • Kubernetes and Hosting VMs: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters or virtual machines.
  • CI/CD Tools and Architecture: Proficiency with tools like Jenkins and a strong understanding of pipeline service design patterns.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
  • Enterprise DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with enterprise DevOps environments, including networks and firewalls.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey technical details effectively.
