Your career opportunity

The Cloud Governance Manager is responsible for ensuring that Cloud objectives are met, and appropriate governance and oversight is delivered. The role reports to the International, Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) Head of Cloud Services, to ensure that our organisation has effective Cloud oversight in place to understand the service delivery performance and associated risk for both Cloud infrastructure services delivered by HSBC group entities and the collective exposure to Cloud migration results.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain cloud governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Oversee cloud risk management, including risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with IT, security, legal, and business teams to align cloud governance with organizational objectives.
  • Act as point of contact for Cloud governance across assigned markets, including in regulatory consultations.
  • Monitor and report on cloud usage, cost optimization, and policy adherence.
  • Lead audits and assessments of cloud environments, addressing findings and driving remediation.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams on cloud governance best practices.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Proven experience in cloud governance, technology risk, or compliance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security frameworks.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to Cloud services and Data in UK.
  • Ability to lead governance forums and ensure effective action tracking and follow-through.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders, including interactions with regulators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to navigate senior stakeholder communication and cross function interactions.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP certifications, CISM, CISSP, CCSP) are a plus.
