Job description
Overview

It's more than a job

In this IT role, you will manage, develop, and support the technology infrastructure that powers Kuehne+Nagel’s global systems and operations. This contribution is vital to making both special and ordinary moments in the lives of people a reality. In fact, your work enables our teams to deliver fresh fruit, time-sensitive healthcare products and much more to people all around the world. Working in IT at Kuehne+Nagel contributes to more than we imagine.

As a WMS Solution Designer, you will provide functional and domain expertise in the delivery of BlueYonder WMS (Discrete) implementations within the Contract Logistics division. This role ensures that warehouse operational requirements are accurately translated into functional solution designs and validated through build, test, and deployment phases.

The Solution Designer acts as a functional bridge between operations teams, business stakeholders, and technical/development teams. Working closely with the Functional Solution Architect, the Solution Designer focuses on detailed design, configuration, and validation activities, ensuring alignment with the broader solution blueprint and design standards.

How you create impact
  • Translate operational requirements into functional solution designs within Blue Yonder WMS (Discrete), ensuring alignment with global design standards and governance.

  • Lead the creation of functional specifications, process flows, and configuration documentation across key logistics workstreams (e.g., inbound, outbound, inventory).

  • Facilitate functional design workshops with operations and IT stakeholders, presenting solution options and securing business sign-offs.

  • Support system configuration, validate outputs, and ensure alignment with integration partners across ERP, automation, and reporting systems.

  • Drive functional testing activities, including SIT and UAT, managing defect triage and ensuring resolution without compromising design integrity.

  • Provide hands-on support during cutover, go-live, and hypercare phases, ensuring smooth deployment and capturing lessons learned.

  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to maintain consistency in design patterns, while contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

  • Stay current with Blue Yonder product updates and warehouse automation trends to enhance solution quality and reusability.

What we would like you to bring
  • 3–5 years of experience in WMS solution design or functional consulting, ideally within Contract Logistics or 3PL environments.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Blue Yonder WMS (Discrete), including configuration, functional design, and process mapping.

  • Proven ability to lead functional design workshops and translate operational needs into scalable system solutions.

  • Experience with multi-site or global Blue Yonder WMS implementations, including cross-functional coordination.

  • Familiarity with warehouse automation and MHE integrations (e.g., conveyors, robotics, sortation systems).

  • Strong understanding of system testing lifecycles, including SIT, UAT, and defect management processes.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills across business and IT teams.

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Computer Science, or related field; Blue Yonder certification is a plus.
