Job Description

Location: Reading, South East England (field-based role)

Salary: Competitive + overtime + benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm (45 hrs/week)

Straightset, an independent garage equipment specialists, is seeking an experienced Garage Equipment Service Engineer to join our professional team. With over 38 years’ experience, we design, supply, install and maintain equipment for car and commercial workshops nationwide.

The Role

You will travel to customer workshops to carry out a mix of preventative maintenance, calibrations, and breakdown repairs on a wide range of garage equipment including:

  • Vehicle lifts
  • Compressors
  • MOT equipment
  • Other workshop systems
Responsibilities
  • Servicing, maintenance and repairs of garage equipment
  • Attending call-outs and diagnosing faults (mechanical and electrical)
  • Commissioning and calibration of equipment
  • Accurately completing and submitting job paperwork
  • Liaising with Service Controllers to ensure excellent customer support
  • Ensuring your service van is stocked and maintained to a high standard
  • Following all Health & Safety regulations
About You / Qualifications
  • Recent experience in garage equipment servicing/maintenance (essential)
  • Mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • GEA accreditation (current or past) – desirable
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to occasionally travel with overnight stays if required

Location

This position is field-based ideally located in the Reading area for travel around the South East of England. Only candidates currently based in this region will be considered.
